Computex, Asia’s premier tech show, was buzzing with excitement over Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. His popularity, dubbed ‘Jensanity’, underlined the growing influence of AI, with Nvidia leading the charge. Huang announced plans for an AI supercomputer, in partnership with Taiwan’s government and tech giants like Foxconn (also called Hon Hai Technology Group) and TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company).

What’s so special about this AI supercomputer?

It’s all over the news. Social media outlets, online tech forums, and news websites are all discussing what may be Nvidia’s big step toward maintaining their number one position in global Artificial Intelligence advancements. They’ve been at the top before, and this new supercomputer might just be the cornerstone that allows them to truly showcase their remarkable AI innovation. So what exactly does this ‘AI supercomputer plan’ entail? And what makes it so important?

Well, Huang plans on building an AI factory supercomputer that he says will fuel innovation and help Taiwan’s scientists and startups. This is part of Taiwan’s work to be the world’s biggest computer center.

"Our ultimate goal is to create a smart AI island filled with smart cities, and we look forward to collaborating with NVIDIA and Hon Hai to make this vision a reality."

— Minister Wu Cheng-Wen of Taiwan

Taiwan will have an area in the south that is designated solely to be an industrial Artificial Intelligence zone, marking a crucial center point in Taiwan’s economic goal to become the world’s best computer hub. This could be a huge step in the right direction for the relatively small yet growing country, and a great opportunity to expand their business in tech.
